Don’t Be A Stranger is a new Ghanaian branding and design agency, here to design brands to be relatable, relevant and interesting. It decided to pursue the goal of branding itself with a logo, brand and visual identity system, that would promote its creative ethos and draw attention to the agency in an emerging local industry.
The Stranger branding puts strategy at the center of self-promotion. While the agency’s name was chosen to act as a headline to its philosophy on relatable brands, its logo becomes a symbolic representation of the agency’s mission to redesign brands to be relatable, relevant and interesting, in a time when people navigate the world through the brands they most relate with.
The Stranger brand is designed to reflect the saying: ‘people don’t talk to strangers’.
Across the collateral items, the fresh and interesting creative style of Don’t Be A Stranger is displayed, and conveyed with a tone of voice that is clear, engaging and witty.
Don’t Be A Stranger created two versions of its business card, each with different copy that expresses the views of the agency: one describes what people expect of brands, the other describes what brands should expect of themselves. In each message, the agency’s name is highlighted.
Energetic colors and typography enable the agency’s visual language to look and feel fresh on each item; whether viewed in parts or as a whole, and forms the basis for the design of a broader design system to support the future growth of the agency.
The visual language also plays on the name of the agency, to create designs for collateral like t-shirts and hoodies.
In a local industry where branding agencies are typically known only for print productions and branding corporate items, Don’t Be A Stranger is disrupting a status quo, setting new industry standards and raising the bar for what clients should expect from a creative agency.
