FutureBrand creates new identity and website for philanthropic fund aiming to reverse paralysis
LONDON. December 3rd 2024: FutureBrand London has launched a new brand identity and website for SCI Ventures, a venture philanthropy fund created to catalyse an investment market aimed at reversing paralysis.
SCI Ventures briefed FutureBrand to build awareness of the credibility and expertise of the fund, while communicating its mission to invest in new scientific breakthroughs in the treatment of spinal cord injuries.
Designed to convey both credibility and accessibility for the brand, the redesign’s main purpose is to appeal to Life Science professional investors and medical professionals, while also speaking to spinal cord injury sufferers, their family and friends. To engage these different audiences, FutureBrand developed a creative concept that communicates the idea of transformative breakthrough.
The design’s fresh and modern motion combines thoughtful colour choices and modern design motifs – including soft filtering of abstract areas and rounded shapes with smooth transitions.
The brand’s look and feel is all about communicating a disruptive, breakthrough mindset, retaining a human touch that gives hope and inspiration to sufferers and their loved ones. Font combinations of serif and san serif reflect the established nature of the scientific research funded by SCI Ventures while an open and friendly layout of elements makes the information accessible and easy to understand.
Adrien Cohen, Founding Managing Director at SCI Ventures said: “The brief for SCI Ventures was not easy. A philanthropic initiative… with a VC fund mentality. A distinct new identity… backed by 5 leading Foundations with strong separate identities. FutureBrand has delivered over and beyond. The team really captured what we are about: expertise, collaboration and pragmatism. We are all very impressed with the strategic thinking, the level of commitment of the team and the result.”
Grace Potter, Digital Design Director at FutureBrand London said: “We’re privileged to be able to contribute in a small way to SCI Ventures’ incredible ambition, and proud to develop a brand that reflects and reinforces the passion and credibility of SCI Ventures and the team behind it.
“The branding needed to be visually engaging while also presenting SCI Ventures as knowledgeable, pragmatic and grounded in science. Our solution builds credibility with potential investors while also addressing the needs of the wider audience by achieving both
and by communicating complex information in an efficient and accessible way.”
In 2023, SCI Ventures’ founders set up an “evergreen” fund to accelerate early-stage investment in potential cures and therapies, always advised by world class neuroscientists at the cutting edge of medical science and technology.
There are 15 million people living with spinal cord injuries worldwide, most of whom are under 40 and have been affected while in the prime of life.
