From the Heart to Your Plate: Vantastic Foods’ Nature-Inspired Identity by Backbone Branding

A warm, nature-inspired design with heart-shaped hands, playful details like a ladybug, and variations to reflect Vantastic’s flavors.

We were tasked with rebranding Vantastic Foods, a producer of high-quality vegan products, to better align with its core values: care, love for customers, and a strong connection to nature. With this in mind, we developed a design that would emotionally resonate with consumers while staying true to the brand’s values and creating a sense of warmth and trust. The aim was not only to make the packaging visually appealing, but also to communicate the brand’s story and philosophy at a single glance.

We created characters with heart-shaped hands, gently holding delicious vegan dishes as if they were something precious and cherished. Instead of focusing on traditional facial features, we highlighted the hands and chest area, allowing the gestures themselves to express emotion. The heart-shaped hands not only symbolize care but also form the letter “V” for Vantastic, creating a subtle yet powerful visual identity. This concept allows consumers to immediately recognize the brand and associate it with kindness, love, and plant-based goodness.

Our design adapts seamlessly to different product types, incorporating variations in the characters’ facial expressions, heart color palettes, and decorative patterns. For example, an Italian Nonna character with warm earthy tones brings a sense of home-cooked authenticity to Italian dishes, while delicate sakura petals convey lightness and freshness for Japanese cuisine. These subtle variations make each product unique while maintaining a strong and cohesive brand language across the entire line.

A symbolic touch we introduced is the ladybug, resting on the characters’ shoulders or appearing gently on the packaging. Ladybugs are known for their role in keeping plants healthy and clean, naturally protecting crops. This symbolic element has now become a brand icon, representing the brand’s commitment to natural, wholesome ingredients and its respect for the environment. It adds a playful, endearing detail that strengthens the emotional bond between the product and the consumer, reminding them that every Vantastic product is made with care for both people and the planet.
