Expedition Future is the facilitator for policymakers. To this end, we create a space in which politicians can develop effective measures in a collaborative process that goes beyond the lowest common denominator.

From problem to concrete action plan in just a few days: During a 2½-day policy sprint on a specific policy challenge, parliamentarians* work together in an efficient, facilitated process to develop effective solutions that are measurable and serve as the basis for a motion in the parliamentary process.

Using collaboration methods, such as the governmental learning spiral, which have proven themselves in other contexts and internationally (OECD, World Bank) and have been adapted for the specific needs of Swiss politics, the common ambition is sharpened within moderated events until solutions are developed.

Thanks to the active cooperation of representatives from all political factions and, if possible, all relevant stakeholders from science and civil society, a concrete plan of action emerges at the end of the policy sprint that is also capable of gaining majority support.

In this way, we create a new cross-party dynamic and a method for developing policy solutions that can be introduced into the parliamentary process with a high chance of success.

Our first expedition will take us to Swiss climate policy. It will bring together selected federal parliamentarians* from different political parties in the fall of 2021 to work on a thematic area of climate policy such as mobility, energy or finance.

What makes Expedition Zukunft unique is that we support the development of ambitious and tangible solutions to complex challenges through a seriously collaborative, facilitated process involving all relevant stakeholders. To solve a specific problem, Expedition Future

brings together the right actors* at the right time in the right process. Federal parliamentarians from all parties work out solutions together with stakeholders from business and civil society, scientists and members of the federal administration, which can be introduced into the parliamentary process with a high chance of success. In this way, the latest scientific findings are available to the participants and measures can be assessed for their effectiveness.

Thus, the political system is able to develop not only effective but also majority-capable answers.
