Ethos is the chocolate bar with a conscience. Globally, there is a lack of awareness regarding unethical cocoa farming. The exploitation of cocoa farming countries has led to forced child labour, unfair pay for workers and poor working conditions. We decided to focus our target market and the problem specifically in Ethos’ native country: South Africa. Many South Africans are unaware of the unethical practices that go into producing their favourite foods and snacks. Evidently, they also have a penchant for good chocolate. Hence, why we decided to create a chocolate bar that educated South African consumers on where exactly their chocolate comes from.
Our mission is to provide consumers with high-quality chocolate that not only tastes delicious but also helps enrich the lives of cocoa farmers globally. All of the proceeds from the sales of these slabs go to foundations such as the World Cocoa Foundation and the Fair-Trade Foundation. Our credibility is found in our name, literally.
Well, what makes us different from other brands exactly? We are supporting multiple communities all over the world. Using multiple sources instead of just one helps us contribute to the social development of these areas. It also means that our consumers can explore the world with just their taste buds.
Our chocolate uses only the finest ingredients, as we do not use any artificial preservatives, colourants or flavours. The chocolate comes in a variety of unique flavours, which are inspired by the beautiful locales that farm cocoa. Ethos has produced a range of chocolates that educate and prompt South Africans to look into the processes that go into chocolate production.
In addition to our commitment to ethical sourcing, we also prioritise sustainability throughout production. Our packaging is made from 100% recyclable materials, boasting biodegradable wrappers. We pay homage to the countries that distribute and farm cocoa, such as Brazil, Ghana and Mexico. The wrapping is bright and captures the true essence of the culture being represented. The eye-catching visuals and vivacious colours attract consumers to briskly grab it off the shelf. There is a story behind our art. The motifs and patterns on the wrapping are representatives of each country’s national plants, fruits and symbols.
We boast rich dark and milk chocolate slabs, with 50% Dark and 80% Dark being our most popular choices. Indulge in the flavours that are sure to tantalise your tastebuds. Our Ghanaian slab features the sweet and refreshing combination of coconut and pineapple, guaranteed to transport your taste buds to a sunny island paradise. We have every type of taste for every type of individual.
