A dip into the underwater world
This design seeks to fully immerse the observer in plankton’s natural habitat: the mysterious and captivating seabed. It invites the viewer to descend into a hidden ecosystem, a world inhabited by algae, microorganisms, and one of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures—the whale shark, an animal that feeds on plankton and symbolizes balance within this delicate environment. This majestic fish becomes a key visual and functional feature, thoughtfully integrated into the packaging as both a closing lid and a sealing element, reinforcing the connection between content and container.
The visual composition is carefully structured to emphasize plankton as the main ingredient, placing it at the center of the narrative while elevating its importance through scale and repetition. The design offers an original and innovative interpretation of herbal tea, transforming it into a multisensory experience that goes beyond taste.
The use of iridescent blue paper evokes the shifting light of the ocean depths, surrounding the viewer in an aquatic atmosphere. This is complemented by an abundance of microscopic forms that suggest life in constant motion, as well as the textured pattern of the whale shark’s skin, enhanced through silver foil stamping to add both tactility and visual richness. Additionally, die-cut seaweed layers overlap across the surface, creating depth and reinforcing the illusion of immersion.
Ultimately, innovation and distinctiveness guide every design decision, resulting in packaging that is not only functional but also evocative and memorable. Plankton Tea stands as an experimental and forward-thinking project by La Tetera Azul.
