Embacy Originals: Black

The new original project of Embacy is all about the color black. The idea was born from the corporate culture of Embacy itself. As Embacy’s art director says: “At embacy, we’re minimalistic and try not to complicate things — we have a white website and wear black hoodies.” Together copywriters, designers and managers of Embacy created a visual story about the color.

Why create a whole new project about only one color? The answer is simple – black is ubiquitous and universal, a favorite of both designers and accountants, of priests and atheists, of the stuck-up and the rebellious. We constantly encounter the color black in our daily life, but we seldom think about how many things are concealed in detail.

The original project is thematically divided into ten small parts. These ten parts tell their own story about the color black: color of space, color of mystery, color of fashion, color of sophistication, color of cinema, color of print, color of power, color of day-to-day, color of fear, and color of rebellion. Each part presents different artworks, photographs, and animated images.

One of the central visual elements is a 3D model of a black cube on the first page. 3D-cube is placed on the black background. The idea behind this was to apply the art technique of black on black.

For the project, Embacy used a neo-Grotesk sans-serif font Aeonic. It is minimalist and eye-catching at the same time. As far as the major color of the project is black, it was important to choose a font that would be user-friendly.
