Packaging Design for 16th Street Patisserie
“I often wonder how it feels to unbox a thing of joy & love, peer through the window in anticipation, to read kind words and know they are written just for you.”
While designing packaging, at Design Piñata we always think of the entire experience. Starting from the outer packaging to the inner product, the challenge is to always create packaging that pairs perfectly with the product inside.
The 16th Street patisserie, based in Kolkata, serves wholesome home-made desserts in luxurious flavours and textures. The branding is approached through a dreamy Parisian lens. The logo for the brand is inspired by a glass cloche and uses an arched window to create a versatile design. The illustration of the cacao bean signifies the use of quality chocolate & all things delicious in every invention.
The arched window of 16th Street is an iconic element of the brand’s visual identity. It allows us to extend the brand story further through multiple print and digital collaterals. It remains an inspiration for us to reinvent and translate into our packaging in a multitude of ways offering a peek into the boxes, as a cloche veiling the desserts and as a pattern applied to the box.
For this particular design, the central arched window sits on top of the 16th Street dessert box. It allows you to take in the confection with your eyes first, and builds anticipation even before you take the first bite. The text across the window leaves space for this reason, while reminding you of why you may #FallinLove with what’s inside.
