Design of a Children’s Memory Game to Encourage Dental Hygiene Learning and Dental Appointment Positively

Memolare is a customisable memory game thought and made for dental clinics, to make children approach the dental hygiene world and make the dentist appointment a moment of joy, with no fear involved.

Benefits: There are numerous benefits around the concept of the memory game, it helps growing a more agile way of thinking, it helps growing reflexes, and also it improves observation skills and decision making.

“Game as the first tool for learning”: This is the core of this project. Teaching children, while having fun. The game is made for the parents too, because you don’t have to spend a lot of money to fix your baby’s dental health if you have a tool to teach them what cavities are, and which tool can help them have a good dental care.

Model & Branding: We decided to opt for Cartoon style characters, that are pleasing to watch (from a children’s point of view) and very understandable. In this way children tend to better learn the teeth’s names. The back of each card is customisable with logo and colours of the clinic. When it comes to the packaging, every tile is stored inside a theme box, brand customisable, with the logo of the clinic.
And last but not least we have the game board, stored inside the box, on which you can place Memolare’s tiles. If on one side we have the memory game board, on the other side we have an image matching game, for even younger children, to inspire their creativity.

Inclusivity: We shouldn’t really make a point about this, but we felt like doing it anyway. Because this idea came from one of our customers who has a blind nephew. His idea was to make the game playable for blind children, to let them play freely with their friends, parents, whoever they like to play this game with. And as soon as we learned that almost 1.4 million of children are blind we decided to implement Braille in every Memolare, from the boxes to the tiles.
