Matthew Ahern is a digital-first marketer who takes a fresh and honest approach to challenging marketing conventions. He required a flexible brand to help him stand out in a crowd of ‘SEO Wizards’ and ‘Social Media Unicorns.’ The brand needed to position itself to appeal SMEs and teams who are outgrowing their in-house capacities. Rejecting the aggressive sales-driven approach used by most digital marketing groups, Matthew Ahern’s identity instead takes a ‘back to basics’ human-driven narrative. To Inspire deeper and more fulfilling connections the brand undertakes a visual language of tech-driven colours and refreshing simplistic shapes in a 3D Tactile format, that feel lighthearted and approachable.
The concept style takes the idea of digital marketing back to the basic building blocks by keeping the shapes and stylistic approaches as simple as possible. This is done by including the more basic of 3D forms such as spheres and cubes. Often the digital marketing world is viewed as complex to those on the outside, with terms and phrases such as ‘SEO, CMS, KPI’S’ and other multiple acronyms featured heavily, these play a role in alienating the non tech savvy outsiders. The brand played an important role in trying to demystify some of these complex terms so that anyone who was perhaps curious about how digital marketing may elevate their brand to the next level could feel less intimidated. This however doesn’t mean that the brand needed to be dull, to supply Matthew Ahern with all the tools his brand needed we introduced a fun range of stickers and gradient textures that allowed a certain level of playfulness and personality that could help to distance himself from the stark corporate competitors his industry finds himself up again. By being an independent marketer this meant he could reflect his own personality within his brand. The overall output resulted in a range of key resources such as concepts for a digital presence, social assets and digital media assets allowing for flexibility with any future content he needed to create.
