Cyrene Oenobeer Label Design

Cyrene Oenobeer Label Design

An unexpected Brew
This unique beer-wine blend belongs to the category of Oenobeers. Cyrene reflects 3 combined features: a single vineyard Assyrtiko wine from Santorini, the blend of the bottom-fermented beer with the Assyrtiko wine, and the 2nd fermentation of both in the bottle. Slightly cloudy with a pale lemon color and golden highlights.

Intense & extrovert aromas of sweet Rosaceae fruits like quince and citrus fruits like tangerine  supported by elements of fresh cake dough deriving from the malty but medium-bodied Lager. Dry with high refreshing acidity, slightly tannic texture, mineral backbone and low refreshing aftertaste.

Santorini Kouloura
A unique way of vine pruning, the Santorini “kouloura”, ensures that the yield is in no danger of being compromised and the vines weather out the adverse Santorini soil and climatic conditions.

The origin of this way of training vines is lost down in the passage of time and has been perfected to such an extent that, apart from being the most suitable way of training them, it also gives vines the appearance of natural works of art.

The Design
The key visual captures a harmonious blend of vine leaves together with hops bringing out the intense and extrovert character of this special Oenobeer. The keyvisual is printed in copper foil on premium paper to provide an elegant touch.

The Name
Cyrene owes its birth to the Greek Island, Santorini. Cyrene was formed as an ancient Greek colony on the North African coast, in 631 BCE by Theran emigrants that followed the oracle of Delphi to colonize this city in order to survive starvation. Cyrene, became a great intellectual and artistic center in the Hellenic world. Today is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Terroir Project
Oenopedion, sense of place or Terroir can be defined as an interactive ecosystem, in a given place, including climate, soil, and the vine rootstock and cultivar, although human factors such as viticultural techniques and enological/ brewing techniques may also be included. Beer and wine sensory attributes are influenced decisively by Terroir.
