The Winery: Valtara Winery is located in Goumenissa in the prefecture of Kilkis, an area that became famous for its wines. Although it is a relatively new winery, the quality of the wine has nothing to envy the old ones, and it verifies the rumors of its place of origin.
The task: We were entrusted with the design of the first series of wines of the winery, with the aim of creating a modern identity, able to stand on its own as a product and stand out from the crowd, giving a new breath and leaving a dynamic presence.
The solution: A design solution based on minimalism was chosen, and a design system based on the number of bottles () as well as the two different types of wines (dry – semi-sweet) was created, harmonizing the above with the three volumes that compose the logo of the winery. Regarding the design of the visual identity of Valtara Winery, a design solution based on minimalism was chosen. Regarding the design of the labels, a system was chosen based on the number of bottles (5 bottles) as well as the two different types of wines (dry – semi-sweet). Based on the above, a 5-point system was designed, in order to separate both the space and the creation of visual elements. In any case, we kept the bottom grid of the four fixed, with the fifth (and basic design of each label) giving way to one of the 3 elements of the logo. Using the logo semantically as a design code, we connected the three volumes to the three already wine. In summary, analyzing the design system we have:
a) Color coding (White and black for dry and gray with black for semi-sweets).
b) Basic form of central symbol (semicircle> red, rectangle> pink, crown> white).
c) Five white tumors on the front of the label (one for each wine).
The second strip under the main label with the details of the winery on the front, came as a solution to a problem that arose from the Ministry of Rural Development regarding the approval, since the winery has entered a signal process, and until it is approved it must all the main elements are listed in front.
