Amber Cuvée — Sparkling Innovation by Cricova Winery
Cricova, one of Moldova’s most established and respected wineries, has long been associated with classic méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines. With the launch of Amber Cuvée, the winery steps into uncharted territory: an experimental orange sparkling wine made from extended skin-contact white grapes. This bold enological move required a packaging concept that could simultaneously reflect innovation, natural richness, and brand evolution.
The design draws inspiration from amber — a fossilized resin that shares both visual and symbolic similarities with the wine itself. Its deep golden hues, natural inclusions, and semi-transparent glow became the key metaphor. The label was die-cut asymmetrically to resemble a gemstone, with an irregular shape that adds depth and tactile uniqueness. Hot-foil stamping in multiple tones of gold and orange was applied to evoke the reflections and inner texture of real amber.
While remaining premium in execution, the design departs from Cricova’s traditional visual codes, signaling a more progressive direction for the brand. Amber Cuvée positions Cricova as a winery that honors its roots while embracing innovation — visually and oenologically. And it’s a true honor to serve such a legendary winery in such an engaging and experimental project.
The bold and innovative label design is also accompanied by a gift box that matches the tone and feel of the label, further emphasizing the product’s unique character.
