Grunts is a catering, gourmet Hog Roast company specialising in weddings, festivals and events. The client wanted to steer away from the standard identity that most hog roast companies go for, but instead, show off the higher quality elements that they will be producing.
When it came to designing the identity we decided to go with a more abstract direction to the logo/brand design, this is to make Grunts stand out from the crowd and give it a sophisticated modern look. We wanted the target market to get understand and appreciate that Grunts offers not only gourmet, high-quality food but also a premium catering service that fit all types of events.
We opted to base the logo design on an origami-style pig rather than an illustration/ imagery of the real animal to remove any sensitivity from the target audience and remove the reality of how the food, like all meat-based delicacies, are produced. The origami feature continues throughout the packaging where we can produce menus (or even just instruction sheets for children) where the customer can actually fold the paper and create the logo itself in a 3d format. Giving a sense of fun and purpose to the identity and packing collateral.
The colour palette is made up of very neutral earthy tones which help modernise the look of Grunts as well giving it a natural outdoor look. The brand identity was implemented through motion design, printed materials, web design design, uniform, 3d materials and the design of their catering truck and meat smoking machinery.
