A grassroots brand at its core, Vocsta is a “social community” start-up centered around discovering singing talent. Followers of the social platforms vote for their favourite artists, with the winners awarded cash prizes to help fund an activity that will help propel their music career, such as recording a demo. Vocsta provides an outlet where people have the freedom to express, showcase, empower and dream. A platform that is built for the people, by the people.
Vocsta’s current identity system unfortunately blended in with its competitors and had a generic mic as the logo, and it most certainly didn’t capture the spirit of the brand. Vocsta deserved an identity system that captured its ethos.
Designing a logo that gave rise to the ‘V’ monogram. Inspired by an abstract interpretation of a concert setting, the monogram is expressed as a symbol of ‘community’ which represents the stage and artists, which are supported by the audience. One wouldn’t be able to exist without the other.
This brand idea expanded to create a relevant brand universe, with an electrifying colour palette that expresses the excitement, energy and lights of a stage. Partnered with bold type that echoes gig posters, capturing the essence of the live music scene.
As part of the design solution, an angular framing device, inspired by the letter ‘V’, was created as a graphic element that provide a guideline to be utilized across the brand’s communication pieces and user-generated content, this ensures easy adaptability and consistency across content.
