‘The Independent’ is a brand conceived to sell in independent retailers and on-trade. We devised a packaging solution that features a portrait of a unique character we created. Playing on the ‘Puss in Boots’ theme, we used a cat head and tail (cats are independent creatures by nature), smug 50’s business man (representing the winemaker as salesman), and gum boots (winemakers footwear). A stamp was created to retain Teusner’s distinctive oval branding, but express it in a more interesting and independent manner.
