Connect Conference Brand Design

Connect Conference Brand Design

Futuristic meets humanistic at this concept identity project for the flagship conference of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, the International Robotics & Automation Conference.

The design challenge was to propose a new look and feel for the event to portray its forward-thinking mission to connect the greatest minds in the field of robotics, exchange ideas, and create bridges between disciplines, geographic areas, and thoughts. My aim was to create a bold identity that distinguishes itself from the traditional approaches to robotics and AI, often heavily influenced by the sci-fi inspirations, which, while attractive, could lead to fear and negative connotations. The proposed branding feels modernistic, intriuging and unique, yet just enough warm, safe and familiar to highlight the human-centric focus of the event that encourages its audience to maximize the social benefits of robotics and automation.

Inspired by circuit boards used in robots, the typographic logo and the continous “double n” graphic motif were created to elevate the event branding and help voice its focus on bringing together minds and ideas. The light, flowing, almost liquified continuity of the “Ns” provides a concrete and cohesive framework throughout the event identotyt and several deliverables, from editorial design to environemntal to digital – allowing every asset to shine through. The dense, dynamic, and fluid modular display typeface, Disclaimer, was combined with machinistic and computer-like Space Mono to elevate the futuristic focus of the event, yet grounding it in humanistic roots. Futura PT, Tiny (from Velvetyne.fr), and Roboto Slab complement the typeface selection. Powerful typography is paired with a dynamic, high-contrast color palette based on neon green and deep purple carefully combined to provide enough interest without being too overwhelming. Vivid colors are constrated by the muted, subtled imagery to soften the overal look and feel of the event materials.

Deliverables included the theme logo, branding, website, the conference program and editorial design, environmental design, and event swag.
