Every 10 years, Population and Housing Census takes place. Czech Statistical Office therefore announced public tender for new visual style of Census 2021. This is the winning design chosen by professional jury from the competition of more than 100 entries.
The logo is stylized number 2021 – the year Census takes place. The numbers are created of basic symbols representing People, Statistics, Geographical data and Housing. The corporate palette is combination of national colors (blue, red) and beige with secondary palette made of tints of primary colors. The illustrations used within the identity are based on infographic elements like charts, arrows, pins etc and depict everyday life’s topics.
By adding hands and various props to the number “2” from the logo the mascot comes into being. The mascot helps communicate various topics in more friendly and informal way, both in print materials and animation.
The whole identity is friendly, playful and fresh as it needed to get rid of the stigma from previous censuses which were strongly criticized and regarded as obsolete bureaucratic harassment.
The Brand book was created early 2019 and now the whole visual style is being implemented.
The identity was awarded Gold at this year’s WOLDA (World logo design Awards).
