Kotre is one of the few theaters in Moscow that practices productions with the participation of cats and is aimed at adult and adolescent audiences. The theater’s repertoire includes both adaptations of books about cats and author’s productions in which furry friends play roles on a par with people.
The inspiration for the creation of this corporate identity was a theater curtain, which is covered with a decorative top like a harlequin. Typography forms the folds of the curtain’s side wings, on which theatrical spotlights shine from both sides and, of course, in the center of the spotlights, at the very bottom of the curtain, you can see a cat – it can be its entire silhouette, or only a paw or tail can be seen.
The style works with a variety of information and is very plastic. Due to the mobility of the details representing the main part of the curtain and harlequin, informational messages can include both an announcement of performances for the next month and simple short messages about future premieres. The typography for the main set is static and clearly structured, it is complemented by dividing lines that create an almost classic modular grid, and a simple and concise grotesque goes well with complex accidental three-dimensional typography.
The color scheme of the corporate identity is quite bright and contrasting, ultramarine blue and purple pink color are well combined with each other and emphasize the originality of the theater. The white color with which the typographic part is typed contrasts well with both colors and is not lost on branded media.
The logo of the corporate identity refers to the main idea with the image of a curtain and a harlequin. At the top, the letters are straight and clear, as when using colored stripes, while at the bottom they bend, repeating the shape of the folds.
