Cáscara Tech Redefines Sustainable Packaging Innovation Through Design by Arutza Estudio

In my book Gerencia para proyectos, I write that one of the most effective ways to get new clients is to go out into the world and be present at events. That’s exactly how I reconnected with Martín, the founder of Cáscara Tech. We ran into each other at an art gallery, saw each other again, said hello—and a few days later he called me to ask for help designing his company’s presentation.

What started as a presentation quickly evolved into something much deeper. Together, we defined the brand’s storytelling, refined its color palette, changed the base typeface to Helvetica, and rethought the use of the symbol within the visual system. From the beginning, it was clear that the brand needed to balance two worlds: technology and nature. That tension is intentionally expressed through a fluorescent green—an almost artificial color—used to highlight innovation, science, and experimentation, while still referencing growth and regeneration.

The triangular symbol emerges from the packaging itself, whose phases and structures are triangular in form, reinforcing the idea of process and transformation. Visually, we chose an independent, almost non-commercial design language, deliberately distancing the brand from conventional packaging aesthetics. Cáscara Tech is not another product on the shelf—it is a real alternative, actively pushing back against plastic and the systems that sustain it.

This entire process was carried out in person over three long, collaborative sessions. When done live, these processes generate a particular energy: conversations flow, ideas collide, and decisions are made with more intuition and less friction. That synergy between client and studio—when it exists—often leads to the most solid and honest results.
