Casa Aragão Olive Oil Premium Packaging Design by M&A Creative Agency

This project was driven by the ambition to translate one of the most iconic cultural expressions of Caretos de Podence into a contemporary piece, where tradition and design meet in an authentic and meaningful way. As the agency behind the creative development, our goal was to craft packaging capable of sparking imagination, enhancing the overall experience, and creating an immediate emotional connection with its audience.

From the outset, the bottle played a central role in the concept. We developed a distinctive shape where small imperfections are embraced, not only for their aesthetic character but also for their contribution to a more conscious and sustainable approach. This decision reinforces a sense of authenticity and brings the object closer to a handcrafted universe.

The label draws direct inspiration from the Caretos’ costumes, known for their vibrant fringes made of hand-dyed wool. The graphic composition also incorporates patterns reminiscent of traditional quilts from the Trás-os-Montes region, reinterpreting a domestic symbol within a contemporary context. The use of yellow, green, and red establishes a clear connection to the Portuguese national identity, reinforcing a strong sense of origin.

Another defining feature is the reinterpretation of the leather bandoliers that cross the Caretos’ torsos. This element was translated with functional accuracy, wrapping around the bottle and creating a tactile interaction with the piece. The leather, engraved with the Casa Aragão name as well as the reference to Caretos de Podence, adds depth and authenticity to the overall design.

At the top, we selected a special recycled cork, combined with a custom-developed technical metallic piece featuring the embossed client brand. This element is attached to the bottle with a leather cord, reinforcing the material consistency and visual identity of the project.

The wooden box completes the experience. Equipped with a customized cork strap, it was designed not only as a transport solution but also as a display piece, easily adaptable to retail environments.

This project reflects our approach to design: creating solutions that respect cultural heritage, elevate materials, and enhance product perception. It is how we work—consistently aiming to go beyond expectations and deliver objects with meaning.
