Christmas is about wishes, presents, and love for friends and family. It’s also about fairytales, Santa, goblins, snowmen, and sugar.
And who said corporate wishes and gifts can’t be fun?
Let’s go back to a couple of years ago when Lidl commissioned us to create an identity for their unique gifts; we aimed to do precisely this!
We created a series of imaginary, playful labels inspired by Christmas stories and foods. The four metallic boxes contain traditional Christmas treats such as Greek-style honey macaroons, chocolates, and sugared buns, and they were given to a specific business unit of the company’s employees as a Christmas present.
With a sophisticated silver box as a canvas, we used colorful illustrations and a curly label shape to add fun. The textured, thick wine-style labels combined with the silver hot foiling details and the elegant serif typeface add to the premium look of the boxes.
The illustration style has cute characters, like a cartoon series with four episodes. The snowman with the foodie sweater, the tree-honey macaroons, and the little goblins carrying sugared buns create a celebratory and storytelling image on the packaging that can engage the viewer. The textures and warm colors, with a vintage touch, provide a friendly look & feel to the result. Collaborating with the designer and illustrator Natalie Mavrota for this series was a blast.
