At the beginning of the 20th century, the traditional Café Tupy was inaugurated in Laguna – Santa Catarina, an establishment that would mark an era in the city and throughout the south of the state. The place was the stage and witness of the social, economic and political transformations of Lagunense society. Its democratic corner became a geographical reference point and, for many years, people used to meet there to have good drinks, smoke cigarettes and chat while enjoying an unforgettable sunset on the pier just ahead.
The name came from the first owner Jacob Ulysséa, who was passionate about the Tupi-Guarani indigenous culture, so much so that he baptized eleven children with Tupi names and a famous bar-restaurant at the time with the name Tupy.
More than 100 years have passed and Café Tupy is reborn, bringing the same joy of yesteryear, with its vibrant colors that value the past and vibrate for the present. The design of the visual identity brings this originality told from the colors of the forest, with the red of the Indian skin painted and the many colors of the plumes and carnivals that passed through these streets where the wind bends. Colors that are a mirror of Hulma Guzman’s painting “Come dance”, a painting that portrays life in the forest, with all its details, dance, joy, expression and all the heightened senses, as if a magic took over the place. . It is this magic that makes Café Tupy what it is, a place to reflect and calm down, to exchange affection and knowledge, a place to live.
