Famously a sailors drink and in more recent times a party spirit enjoyed on it’s own, with a mixer or in cocktails – rum is now set for a renaissance within the spirits world. No longer a cheap and cheerful plonk, rum is increasingly being seen as a sophisticated choice. Following on from the boom in craft beer and gin markets the UK industry is set to see significant growth in the years to come.
Positive growth over the last 12 months has been in the flavoured, spiced and golden categories. The popularity of Gin in cocktails on a night out has also had a positive knock-on to the rum category. Off-trade outlets have been ramping up their rum listings focusing on “exciting flavours….provenance…and educating customers” in response to seeing a change in consumer habits. Customers want a spirit they can connect with – not just with a mixer, that includes a compelling story and ingredients list plus a seriousness and depth of flavour.
Blended with fresh, natural spring water from the hills of Dartmoor, Black Tor Rum needed a premium brand and bottle to announce its arrival in the growing craft-rum sector. The pure, uncompromising character of the rum is reflected through the granite tor-inspired personality and identity. Since launch, sales have snowballed — so much so, that Black Tor are already looking to up production and add to their portfolio.
Stacked like the Logan Stone found on Black Tor the logotype is printed with a black foil and a rooftop emboss. Printed on Fasson Fibres paper stock the label has a fibrous stone-like texture.
The bottle is Saver Glass Botanic Mecanique allowing for a large swing top wooden stopper which we had uniquely produced to fit with the bottle structure. The outer packaging was intentionally designed in collaboration with Atlas packaging to enable ease of packing, secure shipping and illustrated with the Black Tor illustration and branding wrapping around the box as an additional brand touch point at point of delivery.
