According to French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, ‘Habitus’ is a set of socially ingrained habits, skills and dispositions shared by people with similar backgrounds. Our taste for cultural objects such as art, architecture, music and fashion, as well as the way we perceive the world around us, is greatly influenced by our past experiences, memories and background. In the case of ‘Habitus Real Estate’, a young company specialising in luxury residential properties, the name also references to the word ‘habitat’, our natural home or environment, our preferred surroundings, and the place we like to call ‘home’. Habitus Real Estate takes pride in providing clients with unique, bespoke residential properties that distinguish in location, design and quality craftsmanship. The young founders of the company wanted to create a brand which would differentiate itself from a large number of similar companies in the same region, targeting an upmarket, sophisticated audience.
The design of the visual identity was influenced by a number of factors: First and foremost, the need for a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic, set the tone for a design solution that would accommodate both of these, often contradicting approaches. The notion of ‘development’ and ‘growth’, along with the requirement for an elegant and timeless solution, brought about the idea of a flower, a universal symbol of beauty and elegance, two important characteristics of the properties the company creates. An abstract flower, combined with the initial letter ‘H’, brought about a number of visually interesting solutions. The end result is a combination of these two elements. The continuous line that shapes the symbol communicates longevity while the perfect symmetry brings about a timeless, almost classical aesthetic. Website and social media by Webarts.
