Kantan Kollektiv is a home décor – furniture company based in Ampang, Selangor. The furniture is a mix of traditional and modern touches with rattan as its basic material. Each piece is uniquely handcrafted by family artisans and passed from generation to generation.
The objective is to reposition the brand as a brand that goes toward modernity. While still keeping the elegance of traditional culture; changing the perception that views rattan as traditional and unable to evolve to modern versions, and focusing on giving a modern spin on traditional culture. Yet, preserving its authenticity.
Hence the brand direction for Kantan Kollektiv is handcrafted rattan furniture which reflects the evolving culture of the past and modern.
The logo was inspired by the combination of the company’s signature furniture named the “Spruce Coffee Table,” a rattan weaving, and an arch window to represent home since the company work on home décor furniture. Then, the thick line weight is applied to achieve a simplistic direction and to represent rattan.
The logo itself can be implemented in different mediums, such as on a concrete wall, stainless steel signage, and many more. On top of that, it can be treated flexibly into a pattern that can be used as a graphic element.
Earthy colors (olive green, almond white, yellow ochre) are used in the branding since the product is plant-based furniture as well to give a welcoming and warm mood. In addition, homey and earthy would be the keywords for this rebranding.
