Brand Creation and Packaging Design for Single Vineyard Producer

Brand Creation and Packaging Design for Single Vineyard Producer

Design Energy Pty Ltd – Tulach Ard

TULACH ARD is Scottish Gaelic for ‘High Hillock’. Tulach Ard Syrah is produced in small quantities from a low yielding vineyard planted on the stony eastern flank of Mount Ararat in the Grampians wine region of Western Victoria, Australia.
The area is a cool climate region so the use of blue hues visually depicts this environment and the use of purple hues connect to the wine itself. This is a single vineyard wine, which only produces Syrah (Shiraz), so the use of those colours has been targetted to that wine only. Bringing strategy to this brand, Design Energy graphically created a mountainous range that not only connects to the name and region, but is also a modern representation of a tartan pattern, which is also a connection to the owner’s Scottish heritage. The gradient on the range tops represents either the sun or the moon reflectiing off the peaks. With the targetted marketing being mostly men in their 40s, we set out to make the wine look premium, but not traditional. The result is a serious looking wine and the beautiful deep navy hues, highlighted foil for the ‘highest hillock’ and a toothy textural stock, contributes to the premium, sophisticated look this wine deserves.
