Bestore is one of the leading Chinese companies in the industry of leisure food. The design team is entrusted to design a set of annual gifted containers to boost its sales volume. Since the Chinese market of high-end festive gifts is under developed and disordered in a way, the team decided to create an eye-catching and delicate design for the client to celebrate the Chinese new year, the Spring Festival. The main gifted box contained 12 smaller boxes, with the outer container designed in a traditional Chinese style and the inner boxes in a pop-art style. A pattern engraved by 12 Chinese zodiac animals, which stand for Chinese new years, is backgrounded for the logo in Chinese character, together shown in a positive-negative shape. To highlight the festive mood, the main colors used are red and yellow, which are never out of date in China, representing joy and luck. As for the inner containers, through the co-work with illustrators from different countries, we create 12 jocular boxes, which turn out showcasing the traits of the products inside very well and easily applicable for AD campaign. Consumers are more willing to read the packages and learn the stories behind the packages. Functionally, the gifted cases, inspired from an ancient Chinese court food-container, provide users with a set of recycled handy trays and saucers when unpacked, saving much effort to buy or find them. The use of wet-pressing MPP, which eventually saves us from using more plastic material, the subtle hot stamping, and the braille printed inside, endow the whole package with a sense of intimacy, delicacy and humane.
With the design done within 2 months, the product was launched to market on 7th Jan, 2019 and it has already achieved an independent online sales of over 1.2 million USD for the first 3 days, ranking the top among competitive products on major leading online shopping websites in China, Tmall and Taobao for example. The new design is, therefore, classed as surprising and satisfying by both the client and most consumers according to their reviews online and offline.
