Art Direction and Editorial Design for Oilenco Hybrid Plug Brochure
Oilenco Brochure Behind the Scenes – Our client approached us in the run-up to the SPE ICoTA 24th European Well Intervention Conference with the request to create something to help introduce their innovative Hybrid Plug product to market.
With 5 weeks until the show and in tandem with their ongoing marketing campaign we began by looking into their competitors within the market and realised although competitors were strong in some digital aspects their print work was limited and tended to be more datasheet/technical focus with little regard for aesthetics. Therefore, we aimed to prove that print is far from dead and create an immersive experience to be enjoyed by someone well versed in engineering practices as well as someone with no prior knowledge to the industry.
Our focus was to tell the story of the conception of the Hybrid plug not purely the technical data but the people behind its creation. Given the serious nature of the product and the fallout costs if that the product were to fail we decided to focus on Oilencos processes from initial design concepts, R&D, testing through to the finished Hybrid Plug. We commissioned a photographer to capture the team candidly working in their state-of-the-art facility to highlight how each part of the process was as important as the next. We wanted this brochure to convey what a seriously well-engineered, trustworthy and reliable product, one that you can depend on and won’t fail and potentially cost a few million dollars to rectify.
We wanted this to be a blend of modern and traditional methods therefore, we looked to ensure the brochure had a tactile in hand feel thanks to the use of the Black Truffle paper stock alongside implementing modern technologies such as the Augmented reality in the product. This was purposefully done as a hidden extra within the brochure to allow that extra level of engagement during sales meetings and something we though could role out over social media to encourage clients to revisit the book once again.
Since we complete the brochure at the tailed of last year, the client has informed us that it has not only helped secure sales of this product but has also led to other work in other aspects of their service offering and has been a good tool for the sales staff to showcase in client meetings.
