Aqave is a spirits brand that speaks about the origin and culture of agave within the Netherlands. On a trip to Oaxaca, our clients found an alternative way of looking at the rational European point of view. The cultural impact of Oaxaca’s self-sufficient communities was one of the main guides that inspired us to investigate the activities, processes, and traditions present in the region. All this to develop an identity that could be both technical and emotional.
The brand describes the process between the synergy of the human touch, natural environments, and the relationships within communities. We created a system diagram that shows the union of this cultural universe through flow maps and technical symbolisms that are sensitive and emotional. Elements like climate, time, flora, fauna, and raw materials are presented in the flowchart of the different labels. These different flowcharts serve as a reminder and a way to present the research behind the brand. Every part of the process is important and necessary to create each bottle of the collection.
In a very competitive market, Aqave offers the opportunity to show the real process of cultural practices to develop a spirit collection that cares about the context where it’s created. Through branding and packaging, we designed an interesting proposal to share anthropological knowledge through the consumption of a product. This agave spirits collection is focused on creating a drink that is as special for its taste as it is for the story that stands behind the brand. Aqave provides a way of understanding the beauty and emotional level behind a drink made by people with a deep and unique cultural worldview.
The repeating patterns in the process become the quotidian. Take a look. Twist and release the chatter of the ritual, the wind over wildflowers, the howls of four-legged creatures. All of this revolves around the hand that inherited the knowledge, el maestro. He merges the variables; all become one to be aquí y ahora.
