Apiario is a project that was made out with the support of the Jumex Arte Contemporáneo Foundation, which brings together educators, artists, students and cultural agents, as a forum to design methodologies and tools to solve pedagogical problems of art from the limitations caused by the Covid 19 recent social distancing.
The goal was to take the concept “Apiario” (apiary) from its name, as a leading element for the identity system. Visually it had to have a modern and accessible feel, focused on the digital medium in a memorable way. In addition to having the chApiario Identity System and Visualisation allenge of working the entire identity in a really short period of time.
We started from the reference of apiary structures (such as beehives) to evoke the collaborative and expansive environment of the project. Through a 3D synthesis, a clean, precise and true to nature style was communicated, avoiding the so used cliche elements associated with bees, honey and beehives in general.
These visuals inspired by beehives accompany all communication and are used organically to reinforce the concept of connections. The “A”symbol places a strong emphasis on spilled honey as a complementary element, under a playful and experimental style, taken from the PillowLava open source font original design. For the rest of the typographic design in the project we used a sans serif typeface with details that resemble pixels and give it a technological touch. The typeface itself is an open source font that we choose to keep the collaborative base of the entire project.
As a result the identity feels strongly digital, modern and uses a lot of collaboration winks all over the design.
