Antiche Essenze Mediterranee – A Sea of Stories

For the Antiche Essenze Mediterranee project, we let ourselves be carried away by the waves of the Mediterranean Sea, a sea of stories, where people have met and cultural diversities have proved to be humanity’s most significant wealth. The packaging we designed brings to light ancient signs and symbols used to mark amphorae, with spices, perfumes and oils inside, that travelled hundreds of years ago across the Mediterranean. The company was founded on the Calabrian coast and produces, thanks to the fertile land and typical climate, herbal teas made from medicinal and wild herbs grown in a unique habitat. We interpreted and redesigned those symbols for the great coherence with the product. To give strength to the packaging of the individual tins, one of the symbols has been enlarged to become the absolute protagonist. The use of color, unique for each variant, has helped us distinguish individual herbal teas and convey a little more about their contents.
