Kozzy lies within a liminal space between luxury and hand-crafted; each unique natural soy candle pulls from a combination of white cedarwood, jasmine, and various other premium botanical ingredients. Kozzy tackles the search for scents that balance richness and coziness, intensity, and warmth. The textures are meant to resemble the sort of chaos that perpetuates our world; as this contrasts with the minimal candle and cards, the brand image is somewhat hailed as an ascendancy to the surrounding chaos. In creating the background textures, I used several displacement textures, experimenting with random protrusions of matter to emulate “chaos”. The essence of the brand is in its name; “Kozzy” is a term simply derived from the word “Cozy”–thus this serves as its underlying characteristic. The product images have been processed in Blender 2.9–of which I am definitely still a beginner in–and Adobe Illustrator. A rather minimal, upscale label contrasts with the amber jar, something emulating a more hand-crafted feel. My aim to create a brand that balances upscale design with craftsmanship is rooted in the idea of accessibility. The concept of luxury shouldn’t be limited to high-end brands that carry prices beyond what the average person can afford. A small, artisan brand such as Kozzy, therefore, attempts to broadcast an outreach up to the scale of high-end brands while preserving the loyalty and humbleness of an artisan company. This project–which hopefully leaves some sort of imprint–will kickstart my new design account. Typically I’m very private with my work, but this new account hopefully marks the beginning of a renewed sense of sharing. This project was part of my design/art portfolio which I submitted to universities for undergraduate admissions. With this brand (and new IG account overall), I hope to gain exposure, experience and connect with people all over the world. If I were given the fortunate opportunity to be represented/shared by World Brand Designs, I’ll carry through with creating connections with future works.
