An Indelible Mark. Memory of Design in the Region of Murcia
The Association of Design and Advertising Professionals of Murcia is promoting a historical compilation project on design in the region—an unprecedented initiative that redefines the editorial format. The concept of memory is pushed to its limits, transforming publishing into a physical archival experience, where design is read, handled, discovered, and activated.
The creative process begins with a question: where is material memory stored? If the brain is the symbolic icon of remembrance, boxes are the icon of its physical preservation. After analyzing memory boxes, memory is understood as something fragmented, alive, and constantly growing.
The piece takes the form of a metal box—an honest and durable container that holds heterogeneous documents: letters, folded posters, photographs, a newspaper, a book, and symbolic toys. They are organized according to the logic of memory rather than editorial rules. Each element retains its identity, scale, and function, constructing a non-linear narrative that the user completes through their own decisions.
The project turns the reader into an explorer, breaking the distance between format and personal experience. Design steps back to give space to materials, time, and gesture, emphasizing cataloging numerals and names that place people at the center.
This piece documents the memory of design in Murcia, materializes it, protects it, and projects it into the future—elevating the project into a cultural and emotional act that breaks with conventional editorial codes.
