Ortakis Labels, a family-owned business with over 60 years of expertise in label manufacturing and ribbon printing. Rooted in tradition and passed down through generations, O.L. combines deep industry knowledge with decades of experience. We were commissioned to change the face of the company, shifting to a more refined and contemporary look. We re-designed the logo and swan symbol, print collateral and a label sample case.
The mission of the brand’s transition was to create a logo and a branding system with a more fresh and refined look, that exude tradition and experience. The swan is the longstanding symbol of the brand since its founding in 1956.
Our approach was to preserve this iconic element in a simplified form, incorporating shapes inspired by rounded labels. An abstract representation of the swan in a way that carries out a more delicate structure. An identity system was developed using the different major geometric shapes of labels. This unstructured composition is inspired by surfaces densely covered with stickers and labels, but also by the movement of putting stickers in a surface (curved shapes & distorted shapes in the composition). The company passes form generation to generation with knowledge getting deeper each time. For that reason the unstructured patterns besides the aesthetically interesting outcome, they also carry the notion of fullness, emphasizing in the history and years of activity of the company, in a visual engaging way. This rebranding tries to highlight the company’s heritage and at the same time present a clear, modern vision for the future.
