This label is a redesign of a small, personal project rather than a commercial commission. Three years ago, I created a very simple wine label for my father-in-law’s homemade wine. At the time, it was done quickly and without much consideration for materials or production. The wine itself is not made for sale — it is produced in small quantities and shared with friends, relatives, and family.
Returning to this label later became a conscious decision. I wanted to revisit the original idea and treat it with the same level of attention I would apply to a professional wine brand. The goal was not to make it louder or more expressive, but to give it structure, balance, and material credibility.
The redesign focuses on typography, hierarchy, and print logic. Decorative elements were kept to a minimum, allowing the label to rely on proportion, spacing, and subtle detail. Engraved-style illustration was used as a reference to traditional print techniques, reinforcing a sense of familiarity and craftsmanship.
Material choices played a central role in the process. Textured paper was selected to add depth and physical presence, while finishes such as selective varnish and foil were applied sparingly and only where they supported the overall structure. The label was developed with real-world production in mind from the beginning.
3D visualization was used not as a presentation effect, but as a tool to simulate how the label would behave as a physical object – how light interacts with paper, how finishes reflect, and how the design holds together on an actual bottle.
This project is not about positioning a brand for the market. It is about treating a small, personal object with professional care, and exploring how thoughtful design decisions can elevate even the most informal product.
