A vegan working in a butchers shop. This is how the story started with Snap Pies, a new range of gorgeously tasty pies that are 100% plant-based. Xander, the son of the owner, wanted to create a range of pies for people just like him.
The company have been handcrafting pies in Yorkshire since 1945, so it didn’t take long to create a range of plant-powered pies ready to hit the market. And like all Yorkshire folk, they’re proud of where they’re from – they love the beautiful countryside and want to care for it. That’s why they only work with suppliers that have high standards of farming and all their packaging is 100% recyclable, reusable or biodegradable.
Why the name Snap? Snap. A name with a great heritage.‘Snap’ is a colloquial term for ‘lunch’ in parts of Yorkshire – a reference to the uniquely-shaped, waterproof ‘snap tins’ that miners used to take their food underground in. We used the shape as the t’inspiration behind the Snap Pies logo and brand. This helped create a logo with a natural smile, using the strapline as the mouth.
We were also ins-pie-red by the typography used in the pie-making process the client shared with us. Choosing a retro-style font called Ohno Blazeface, we were able to create something unique and different to the competition.
With a name like Snap, the copy started writing itself, with snappy phrases and cheeky taglines that can be used across all their marketing. The logo also proved to be a great ‘sticker’ that can be slapped across graphics, photos and even faces! The copytone was a real standout part of the brand, full of puns and personality.
With a bright colour palette, a gorgeous font and beautiful photography, Snap Pies is a brand that would convince even the hardiest of meat eaters!
