Abstract Packaging Wine Labels Design for a New Generation of Winemakers

Carlo Grabowski, Alexander Böll –  New bottles for the Winzervereinigung Freyburg-Unstrut

“Winzervereinigung Freyburg-Unstrut is the the biggest wine producer in the younger German wine growing regions. Not only has the quality of their wines gotten better and better over the course of the last years – there is also a new generation of winemakers in the company that is taking over. Reason enough to reconsider the packaging design. The briefing: Sophisticated and sober, transporting the company’s new attitude in style, material and finishing. The solution is based upon a four level quality classification. An abstracted map featuring smaller and larger areas conveys the differentiation of the wines by origin. Each quality level carries a unique colour, which can be seen even with the bottle lying in the shelf.”
