A.S. Strategy Branding & Communication’s Playful Redesign for Avgoulakia’s Extra Fresh Eggs

In the age-old debate of which came first, the chicken or the egg, A|S has found a delightful answer, pleasing everyone with a playful twist. They’ve introduced an egg line that unfolds like a captivating story, giving consumers an endearing hen persona to distinguish one variety from the next. Following the success of this multi-awarded line, Avgoulakia is excited to add a new star to its lineup: Extra Fresh Eggs. This new variant is inspired by the speed and efficiency with which these eggs are gathered, packaged, and placed on shelves, and it has brought about a brand-new character.

Introducing Chrysi, the farm’s very own sprinter and gold medalist in 100chm (chick meters). Chrysi, whose name means “Golden” in Greek, is the fastest hen on the farm. A true athlete, she is the top scorer every day, week, month, and year. She and her fellow feathered athletes train diligently each morning, ensuring they stay fit and lay the freshest eggs daily, come rain or shine. Every four years, Chrysi participates at the Chick Championships, the largest athletic event for chickens worldwide. She’s a legend, breaking records every time (her own) and securing the gold medal with pride.

Chrysi’s illustration uses a blue palette, drawing from her Greek heritage. Being blue also sets her apart from other characters in the Avgoulakia family. She wears a red headband with the slogan “JUST EAT IT,” a playful nod to the famous Nike slogan, enhancing the humorous nature of the design. Her hairstyle takes inspiration from the iconic blue hair of U.S. Olympic sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson in 2021, giving her a spirited and memorable look and adding a funny reference. Chrysi proudly displays her gold medal, a symbol of the product’s freshness and quality as well the speed of delivery from the farm to the shelf.

The rest of the packaging remains neutral, allowing Chrysi to be the star, standing proudly on the box, as if posing for a statue that honours her legendary status. Next to her is the tagline: “Extra fresh eggs from hen sprinters,” a line that emphasizes the unbeatable freshness these eggs bring to the table.

The design of the brand elevates a commodity product into something exceptional. Avgoulakia’s Extra Fresh Eggs bring excitement and storytelling to a category typically seen as mundane. With its comic-strip style narration, Avgoulakia is the first of its kind in Greece, transforming everyday eggs into an engaging brand experience. The result? A lovable, standout product that brings joy to every breakfast table.
