Located on Victoria’s surf coast, The Lighthouse Hotel is a boutique retreat inspired by the rhythm of the sea and the unhurried pace of coastal life. Belleville Studio developed a brand concept grounded in slow living and genuine hospitality. The identity they created is fully aligned with the attentive care offered to each guest and celebrates the natural beauty, textures, and light of the surrounding landscape. Every detail was considered to ensure the experience feels intentional, calming, and authentic.
What began as a creative exploration led to a tactile, hands-on process. Drawing inspiration from the immediate environment, Belleville Studio developed a series of hand-cut shapes, which were then scanned and incorporated into the identity — a lighthouse, a cockatoo, a sunset, a carafe, and a glass. This handcrafted approach echoed the hotel’s grounded spirit, celebrating the human touch in a world increasingly defined by speed, technology, and uniformity.
The colour palette showcases sun-washed and vibrant coastal tones, reflecting warmth, openness, and the soft energy of the ocean. The imperfect, hand-drawn typography developed for the logo reinforces a sense of uniqueness, care, and approachability. Overall, the concept celebrates the value of thoughtful experiences, where every design choice contributes to a story of presence, attention, and connection. Though originally conceived as an early direction, the concept remains a heartfelt exploration and a testament to mindful design.
