A Concept for Scheldt Natural Vegan Handmade Body Care Bars

A Concept for Scheldt Natural Vegan Handmade Body Care Bars

Scheldt Natural Vegan Handmade Body Care Bars are sustainably made by hand in Antwerp, Belgium. The design of the packaging is a collage made of original Plantin-Moretus woodcuts. These woodcuts were printed in Antwerp in the sixteenth century in the workshop of the Plantin and Moretus publishing dynasty (now Museum Plantin Moretus in Antwerp).

The history of the woodcuts gives the product a feel of heritage, while the depicted scenes refer to the its origination in Antwerp, a city inextricably tied to the sea through its connection with the river Scheldt. The combination of the soft background color with the darker shade of the scenes aims to give the whole a gender neutral feel.
Every label reads as one continuous text, with playful nautical references to match the depicted scenes and the level of detail in the designs it is combined with.

The packaging is printed on recycled paper with a notable structure. The dark color of the drawing is used as plain color on the inside of the wrapper. This gives the product a feel of luxury with an interesting tactility while, at the same time, staying true to their values of ecology and sustainability.
