Deform: Redefining Clothing Through Transformation and Multiplicity by Daria Savina

Deform is a clothing brand built on the idea that form is never static, but is always in the process of becoming. Here, deformation is not destruction, but a way of being, a path that allows an object to remain alive through transformation. Each garment is conceived not as a finished product, but as a flexible structure capable of changing, adapting and taking on new meanings depending on how it is worn, used or perceived.

The brand’s core principle is multifunctionality. Each item is designed to fulfil multiple functions: it can be folded, stretched, turned inside out or reworked, allowing the owner to rethink its purpose. A jacket becomes a bag, a shirt transforms into a layered composition, a sleeve into a structural accent. This approach challenges the traditional logic of consumption, where every item fulfils a single, predefined role. Instead, Deform presents the wardrobe as a system of possibilities — limited in quantity but infinite in variation.

The brand identity is based on deformation as a graphic language. At its core lies a specially modified version of the IBM Plex Mono typeface — a typeface originally built on clarity, neutrality and strict geometry. Within the Deform project, this rigid structure is deliberately disrupted. The letters are stretched and compressed.

This typographic distortion reflects the philosophy of the clothing itself. Just as the clothing adapts to different configurations, the typeface refuses to remain static.

The project avoids decorative excess, focusing instead on structure. The visual compositions often appear unfinished or in a state of transition.

Deform positions clothing not as a static object, but as a process — something that unfolds over time through interaction. This reflects a way of thinking in which change is not a flaw, but a fundamental condition. In this context, deformation becomes a form of freedom: the ability to elude fixed definitions and constantly reinterpret both the object and oneself.
