HORS CADRE: The Rebel Soul of Paris

Bold, raw, and beautifully imperfect. HORS CADRE is a Parisian bistro that rejects the “curated” in favor of the authentic. Inspired by the rebel spirit and the slow joie de vivre of the city, this brand identity celebrates the beauty of everyday scenes; wine-stained table, loud laughs, and the messy joy of a shared meal.

The Concept: Outside the Frame
Unconventional, dynamic, and expressive. The name Hors Cadre (Outside the Frame in French) informs a layout system where the typography is never static.

The Logo
A dynamic logotype where the spacing between “hors” and “cadre” expands and contracts to accommodate slogans and life in between.

The Layout
Text moves freely in horizontal, vertical and angled orientations, echoing the bistro’s belief in the “raw moment” over the staged experience.

Hand-Drawn Intimacy
Messy, personal, and human. The identity utilizes hand-drawn sketches to reflect the intimate athmosphere of the bistro, where people are encouraged to stay for a long time, ignore their phone and enjoy the company.

Color Palette
Deep, intimate, and timeless. The dark burgundy and cream palette is a deliberate choice to reflect the rebel spirit and deep intimacy of a Parisian night.

The result is an unapologetic, intimate, and raw visual identity that honors the messy beauty of real life over staged perfection. By embracing unconventional layouts and hand-drawn details, the design captures the rebel spirit of Paris, proving that everyone belongs at a table that lives “outside the frame”.
