Rooted in the Texas High Plains – 3,305ft elevation, red sandy loam – Reddy wines carries the confidence of a fashion house. At its heart: a Bobcat mascot system inspired by American sports culture, where each wine tier gets its own distinct, unmistakably Texan character. We built the positioning, identity, packaging, and digital presence around a single conviction: a place this unexpected deserves a brand that makes people stop and reconsider.
Texas isn’t a classic wine region. That was the opportunity. Rather than competing with the terroir imagery that established wine regions have spent decades perfecting, we flipped the positioning entirely: wine not as a product of the land, but as an expression of attitude. The brief spoke of “Modern Cowboy Culture” — not as a cliché, but as a character study: independence, self-assurance, tradition without nostalgia. The winery was to read more like a fashion house — projecting quality and confidence, while staking out a position no one else in the category had claimed.
The visual language followed from there. The original idea was to give each varietal its own hand-drawn wordmark — a graphic expression of what makes every wine distinct. Production constraints reduced that to a single logotype, but the decision remained deliberate: a word mark drawn by hand in ink, referencing the craft and individuality at the heart of each bottle. Alongside a landscape-inspired natural palette, a single accent colour was introduced — one that consciously breaks with the established visual codes of wine culture. Applied as a seal across all brand touchpoints, it became an additional brand element. Subtle, but consistent.
Then came a simple question: why not a mascot for a wine brand? Inspired by American sports culture, but translated into something elegant. The bobcat felt right — a real Texas wildcat, rare enough as a brand symbol to still be unclaimed.
