Calendar Project – Twelve Horses, Twelve Races

Time moves forward in cycles, yet each year often feels like a race of its own. Some months rush past with speed and excitement, while others demand endurance, patience, and resilience. Inspired by this rhythm of time, this calendar project is built around a simple metaphor: twelve horses representing the twelve months of the year, each capturing a different phase of the journey.

In this visual narrative, every horse symbolizes a month, carrying its own motion, character, and intensity. Each figure is placed on its own racetrack and marked with its corresponding number, forming twelve chapters in a continuous story of movement and perseverance. Rather than presenting months as static blocks of time, the calendar reimagines them as dynamic stages in an ongoing race.

The horse, long associated with power and determination, becomes a metaphor for how we move through time — sometimes sprinting, sometimes pacing ourselves, but always moving forward. As the year progresses, the horses reflect shifting energies: the excitement of new beginnings, the persistence required through the middle stretch, and the final push toward the finish line.

Visually, the project embraces a maximalist design approach. Layers of bold graphic elements, vibrant color contrasts, patterns, and motion-inspired compositions create a sense of intensity and visual energy. Each page is rich with details that evoke the speed, tension, and momentum of a race in progress.

Typography plays an important role in expressing motion. Instead of following a rigid grid, the dates move along flowing lines and irregular stacked columns inspired by the rhythm of a horse galloping. This structure allows the layout to feel dynamic and organic while maintaining readability.

The vibrant color palette and layered visual elements amplify the sense of movement and energy. Patterns, directional lines, and shifting compositions create pages that feel alive — always in motion, even as static prints.
