HMLC Blends Legacy and Modernity to create a Striking Brand Identity for Simran Boparai Archtelier

SBA: Where Love and Legacy meet Structure and Soul

About the brand

The brand was born from a partnership founded on belief, courage, and a shared vision. It began as a professional collaboration between designer Simran Boparai and client Dilsher, and as time passed, this evolved into something more enduring. A deeper alignment of values and ambition and a mutual respect for craftsmanship and legacy. Simran and Dilsher decided to continue their endeavour together, where Simran now leads with a creative soul, while Dilsher anchors the practice of discipline and execution. Together they form the perfect balance of soul and structure, as reflected in the brand.

They felt that spaces convey memory, emotion, and legacy in the same way that heirlooms do. The brand draws inspiration from traditional European architecture and reinterprets timeless design principles for the modern world.

Design Process

The design methodology prioritises storytelling and permanence. Here, architecture is considered as something with emotional value, legacy, and narrative rather than a commodity.
Based on the brand story, the design process followed the same theme of spirit and structure, of legacy and modernity, with a balance of both. While history, culture, and symbols act as the soul of the branding, a strong sense of discipline and modernity is reflected through symmetry and proportions.

HMLC ensured that while communicating the design language, everything came together to create a coherent, world-class designing system. Working closely with the founders, we converted a very personal story into a structured design that nevertheless looked and felt like the brand. From designing the brand’s core philosophy to defining the house’s storytelling and legacy, at every level, HMLC ensured that the approach was not only intuitive but intentional. Our role was to take SBA from an instinctive idea to refining, aligning, and framing it as a clear design methodology that establishes SBA as an authority in timeless architecture.

Visual Identity:

Simran Boparai’s visual identity embodies its core values of heritage, elegance, and endurance and balances it with modern sensibilities. The logo features a horse head, which immediately conveys architectural grandeur, nobility and strength. The usage of the quatrefoil conveys a feeling associated with legacy houses rather than studios or corporations. At a glance, this places SBA in the category of institutions that last rather than places that are trend-based. There is a balance between soul and structure, with the horse representing soul and emotion and the structure and geometry of the logo highlighting discipline and order and adding a contemporary touch. The pattern that was developed for SBA was inspired by European flooring, and it blends heritage with a contemporary edge through the use of a vivid blue shade. The unending pattern creates a sense of permanence and stability. The square shapes emphasise order and structure. The colour palette of royal blue and emerald green represents authority, permanence, and cultural depth, while neutral shades demonstrate restraint and balance. The geometry, structure and colour also bring a contemporary touch to the overall spirit of the brand. For font, we chose Ogg Roman for headlines and body text—expressive, editorial, and classical—and Montserrat for subheadings—clean, modern, and balancing the heritage tone.
HMLC led the creation and execution of the entire visual identity, transforming abstract values like permanence, elegance, and modernity into a tangible, living system. We designed the visual language from the ground up, including logo architecture, colour hierarchy, typography, imagery direction, patterns, and applications, ensuring every aspect spoke the same language of legacy mixed with a touch of modernity. Beyond developing assets, we defined rules, rhythm, and restraint: defining how the brand breathes, where it pauses, and how it captures attention without excess. Through careful curation and consistency, we brought the SBA to life in a way that feels timeless, refined, and unmistakably its own.
Outcome
The result is a brand that feels as enduring as the spaces it creates. Simran Boparai Archtelier now stands as a fully realised luxury architecture brand—one with clarity, depth, and authority—where vision, method, and expression move in perfect unison. We built a foundation that can scale, evolve, and remain relevant without losing its essence. What emerged is not a look but a legacy, created to be recognised and remembered over time.
