Ca’ Matilde. A multisensory Dynamic Brand for Italian Cusine

Food is a way of translating memory, landscape and human connection into experience. When identity becomes experience, design must evolve from representation to structure.

For the Michelin-starred restaurant Ca’ Matilde in Emilia, Cappelli Identity Design developed a dynamic brand identity system that could evolve the brand while preserving its authenticity. With its roots in seasonality, hospitality and tradition, Ca’ Matilde did not require a reinvention, but rather a systemic reinterpretation.

Cappelli Identity Design approached the project through its Dynamic brand methodology, treating it as an adaptive identity ecosystem. A co-design workshop revealed the core value of the relationship between people, nature and food culture. The “”Five Senses”” creative concept emerged from this – the gateways through which we perceive the world. Dining becomes a complete sensory journey involving space, time and emotion.

The logotype originates from the Newglyph’s Crystal font, reinterpreted through distinctive inktraps that shape rhythm and proportion. A modular grid system was then developed from this intervention to form the architectural foundation of the identity.

The colour palette combines terracotta, which evokes land and tradition, with deep blue to express refinement and contemporaneity.

The Dynamic brand is applied to the logo, website, printed materials, packaging and e-commerce, ensuring coherence between physical and digital touchpoints.
