Mid-autumn Mooncake Packaging: “vạn Phúc”

“Vạn Phúc” is a phrase deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture, symbolizing abundance, blessings, and lasting happiness. “Vạn” represents countless prosperity, while “Phúc” stands for good fortune, peace, and well-being. Together, the phrase conveys a heartfelt wish for a fulfilling life filled with enduring happiness. It is commonly seen in traditional New Year greetings, parallel verses, and festive decorations as a way to invite peace and good luck into the home.

“Tứ Quý” was chosen as the core concept for the Vạn Phúc packaging. In Vietnamese agrarian culture, Tứ Quý (Four Auspicious Symbols) reflects the four seasons and timeless values of harmony between humans and nature. For this project, four symbolic creatures were selected: Qilin for Winter, representing strength and resilience; Carp for Summer, symbolizing integrity and the ability to overcome challenges; Deer for Autumn, expressing elegance and refinement; and Crane for Spring, embodying luck, prosperity, and longevity. Beyond decorative motifs, these symbols represent a balanced way of life and respect for cultural heritage.

Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, was once a significant traditional holiday marking reunion after the harvest season. Today, it is also known as the Children’s Festival, filled with lantern processions, lion dances, and mooncakes shared under the full moon. It remains a meaningful occasion for family reunion, joy, and warmth across generations.
