In a category dominated by sharp chemical smells and purely functional branding, Manchester-based brand studio Trumpet partnered with new homecare brand Adora to challenge the norms of how cleaning products look, feel and are experienced.
Rather than leading with performance alone, Adora set out to reverse the usual hierarchy of the category. Scent and beauty come first, inspired by the world of fine fragrance, followed closely by products that clean exceptionally well. Trumpet was brought in to shape a brand that reflected this philosophy, positioning Adora closer to a perfumery than a traditional cleaning brand.
The strategy was rooted in a simple insight: most cleaning products are designed to smell “clean”, not to smell good. Adora wanted to create products people actively enjoy, using fragrances that linger in the home, elevate everyday routines, and feel considered rather than aggressive. This shift in thinking became the foundation of the brand.
Trumpet developed an identity system inspired by fragrance houses and luxury apothecaries. The visual language is restrained, elegant, and calm, deliberately avoiding the loud colours and cluttered layouts typical of the category. A refined wordmark, soft neutral palette and confident typography work together to signal quality, care and sensorial appeal.
Packaging design was treated as a key brand moment. Trumpet created a system that balances clarity with elegance, allowing scent names, notes, and product purpose to take centre stage. Space, subtle detailing and strong hierarchy give the products a premium presence, designed to live on open shelves rather than being hidden away.
The scent influence extends beyond the physical products. Trumpet led the rollout across digital touchpoints, including Shopify web design, email communications, and social content. Art direction for photography focused on light, tactility and domestic rituals, mirroring how fragrance brands present mood and atmosphere rather than product alone.
From brand strategy and identity through to packaging, web and content, the project was designed to set Adora up for long-term growth. The result is a homecare brand that feels sensorial, considered and beautifully at odds with its category. Proving that cleaning products can be as desirable as the spaces they’re used in.
