Appartement 103 is proud to unveil its latest collaboration with Salvadorian Ron Cihuatán: Cihuatán Viento, a new limited edition paying tribute to Ehécatl, the Mayan god of wind.

For this creation, limited to 10,000 bottles, Master Blender Gabriela Ayala selected a collection of ex-bourbon casks and moved them to a dedicated warehouse blessed with a unique microclimate, rich in aromas from across El Salvador. Over the course of two years, a constant breeze gently interacted with the casks, subtly infusing the rum with new layers of character. The result is a refined and expressive rum that captures the elusive touch of the wind in every sip.

At the heart of Cihuatán Viento lies the Mayan legend of the wind god Ehécatl. At the dawn of time, the twin brothers Nanahuatzin and Tecuciztecatl became the sun and the moon, but, like twins, they remained bound to one another and motionless in the sky. So the gods called upon Ehécatl, whose powerful breath set them into their eternal orbit. It was the magic of the wind that gave us day and night and, ever since, these celestial bodies have been dancing across the sky.

Graphically, Viento translates this myth into a vibrant, magical visual universe, true to Cihuatán’s storytelling DNA. A bold gradient of fiery oranges, magentas and deep blues evokes sunrise and sunset, while delicate gold hot-foil linework swirls across the label like moving air currents. Hidden illustrative details invite discovery: the sun and the moon, the barrel, the Balsam tree and its swirling leaves all echo Ehécatl’s divine breath and the perpetual motion of the heavens. Together, these elements create on-shelf a real sense of magic and a rich, multi-layered storytelling.
